“What podcasts are you listening to?” has become one of those go-to questions you ask when you’re making conversation with someone, on par with enquiring about a person’s hobbies or favorite movie.

The answers can be virtually anything. As of April 2021, the number of existing podcasts was two million, with over 48 million episodes. But that was over six months ago, and all the cool kids are doing podcasts now, so those numbers are probably even higher as we speak.

It’s a big world out there, and knowing what to listen to first can be difficult. How are we supposed to know what the best podcasts are on any given subject?

Personally, I only ever listen to specific shows that my friends recommend based on what they think I’ll find interesting or funny. Those are usually the best suggestions, so I thought, what better way to compile this list than to ask around?

That’s what I did!

Best Marketing Podcasts that should be on your Radar

So, here there's more on how to start a podcast along with the best marketing podcast recommendations from my friends and co-workers who work in the business and are avid podcast listeners.

The Digital Marketing Podcast

Let’s kick things off with the perfect podcast for your daily commute into your marketing job.

The Digital Marketing Podcast features episodes that are, at most, around half an hour long. Each covers a specific topic, ranging from SEO, A-B testing, social media, email campaigns, content writing tools and techniques, conversion rate optimization, and more. If it’s part of digital marketing, there’s sure to be an episode of this podcast that talks about it.

It’s great if you’re looking for something more informative — just pick a topic you want to know more about — while also being entertaining. It is produced by Target Internet and hosted by Ciaran Rogers, digital marketing and e-commerce expert, and Daniel Rowles, a public speaker and award-winning author of several marketing books.

Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts. And check Target Internet’s archive linked above for all episodes going back 11 years of this podcast.

The Marketing Millennials

Ugh, Millennials. With their Hogwarts House quizzes and side parts, am I right? Wrong. I mean, right. They (we) do feel very strongly about which Hogwarts house everyone belongs to and another million things younger generations now deem uncool. But don’t be fooled by the name — I promise you, this podcast is far from cheugy.

Hosted by Daniel Murray and Emily Fergason, The Marketing Millennials features conversations with top marketing leaders as well as industry rising stars. In the hosts’ own words, “the one request [they] ask all of [their] guests… Stories, or it didn’t happen.” It’s all about having fun and laid-back talks with industry experts from all fields of marketing, from copywriting, social media, and brand to audience research, SEO, and paid advertising.

And who have they had on the show so far? Nicole Parlapiano, VP of Marketing at Tinder, Dave King, CMO at Asana, James Gregson, Digital Creative Director at Lego… The only reason I don’t say the list is endless is that it’s limited to the number of episodes available as we speak, which is 64. But all of them are sure to make for good listens.

The friend who recommended this podcast to me suggested I start with episode 8, “How to Write Very Good Copy with Eddie Shleyner.” So that’s my recommendation to you as well.

Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.

The Copyblogger Podcast

Speaking of copy, while I was doing research for this article, The Copyblogger Podcast was the one that came up most often as the go-to podcast for all things copy.

It is a weekly show hosted by Tim Stoddart, where he interviews experts on “content marketing, copywriting, email marketing, conversion optimization, mindset, and much more.” While it does delve into more niche topics — there’s a three-part mini-series on how to write an epic blog post — it also features conversations on matters that a broader audience can relate to.

There’s an episode on the importance of creativity for success, another on building a business as an entrepreneur. If you were wondering how cryptocurrency is reshaping content entrepreneurship, there’s something in there for you as well.

With 152 episodes to choose from and guests ranging from writers to tech business founders and marketing household names such as SparkToro’s Rand Fishkin, I’m sure The Copyblogger Podcast won’t disappoint you.

Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.

The ABM Conversations

Now, if you’re looking for something more technical, may I recommend The ABM Conversations podcast?

The host, Yaagneshwaran Ganesh, is also an award-winning marketer, an author, and a TEDx Speaker. If that alone didn’t spike your curiosity, let me tell you more about the podcast.

Its goal is to deconstruct marketing tactics and strategies, one episode at a time. It focuses on helping B2B marketers explore said tactics and strategies in a way that will “drive revenue, customer engagement, retention and more.”

As the name suggests, the ABM Conversations features conversations surrounding common marketing topics, such as demand generation, content, ABM frameworks, and more, and broader-scope themes such as developing a marketing strategy or paving a career path in the area. There are over 100 episodes to choose from, so there’s bound to be something in there for you.

Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.

State of Demand Gen

“On this podcast, you’ll find innovative strategy, advice, and tangible tactics that work best TODAY from marketers that are actually doing it.”

Wow, that sounds promising, but does it live up to its premise? I’m happy to say it does.

State of Demand Gen is hosted by none other than Chris Walker, one of the most prominent names in the B2B Marketing world and someone who's been a guest on nearly all podcasts on this list. His company, Refine Labs, is one of the fastest-growing demand generation businesses of the last few years, so you can count on him to have one or two knowledgeable things to say about the subject.

The podcast combines Refine Labs’s #DemandGenLive episode with interviews and fireside chats with marketing experts, focussing on the B2B SaaS industry. There’s a huge selection of episodes, and you’re sure to learn a lot from Chris and his guests, which have so far included Dave Gerhardt, Gaetano DiNardi, Christopher Lochhead, among many others.

Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.

B2B Growth

While we’re riding this B2B wave, I have another B2B-focussed suggestion for you.

B2B Growth is a daily podcast, which means there’s a lot of content to dive into — over 1600 episodes. There are interviews with industry experts such as Heidi Eisenstein, VP of Global Field Marketing and Event Strategy for CX at Oracle, or Ashley Faus, Content Strategy Lead at Atlassian, and shorter episodes where the hosts share their own tips and best practices.

As for topics, this podcast has got you covered. Whether you’re looking for something on ABM, influencer marketing, field marketing, social media marketing — you name it, it’s there. There’s even an episode on B2B podcast strategy. So meta.
B2B Growth is produced by Sweet Fish Media, and on their website, you can browse all episodes by topic category. You can also listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.

Humans of Martech

If you’re interested in the human side of marketing, Humans of Martech is just the podcast for you.

Hosts Jonathan Taylor and Phil Gamache claim to be on a mission to “help marketers level up and have successful careers” in the martech world, and, based on the topics they cover in their conversations, I dare say they are succeeding.

In Humans of Martech, you’ll find everything related, well, to the human side of the industry. You’ll find episodes on starting and building a career in marketing, what the day-to-day of a specific function looks like, how to balance your professional and personal lives, as well as on more detailed marketing topics such as automation, no-code tools, and more to help you thrive in the marketing industry.

The podcast recently celebrated its 50th episode with a special one on staying happy at work, so be sure to check it out. You can listen to all episodes on the podcast’s website as well as on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.

Ungated Marketing

I did say all the cool kids were doing podcasts, so I could not not include our very own podcast on this list.

Ungated Marketing is Landbot’s recently launched podcast hosted by our VP of Marketing, Fernando Amaral. Each episode features a conversation with the marketers out there who are escaping from the old marketing playbook rules and experimenting with new tactics.

So far, we’ve had Rand Fishkin, Chris Walker, Kalo Yankulov, and Emma Stratton on the show, but we release a new episode every Wednesday, so stay tuned for an exciting guest line-up! You can listen to the podcast on our blog — where you can also read dedicated articles on each episode — or listen and subscribe on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Google Podcasts.
