Good to know

What the Landbot server does in Codex today, and where you take over.

  • The Landbot skills aren't in Codex yet. The build prompts on this page carry the same steps and rules.
  • Run Codex in your terminal or IDE. Codex cloud tasks may not reach the Landbot server yet.
  • WhatsApp and Facebook agents go live once your number or page is connected in Landbot. Until then, you test them on your phone from the builder.
  • Connecting Google Sheets, email or Calendly happens in your browser. Codex sends you the link.
  • Custom code and scripts need your explicit permission before Codex writes them.
  • If the bot is open in the Landbot builder while Codex edits it, close or reload that tab so the builder doesn't save over Codex's changes.

Frequently asked questions

Getting started

What is the Landbot MCP server for Codex?

The Landbot MCP server (mcp.landbot.io/mcp) is what Codex calls to build in Landbot. Once added, Codex can create, edit, test and publish Landbot AI agents & chatbots in your account from a normal session.

Which OpenAI plan do I need?

Any setup that gives you Codex. Landbot adds no requirements on the OpenAI side.

Are the Landbot skills available in Codex?

Not yet. They'll come with the Landbot plugin for Codex. Until then, the build prompts on this page include the steps and rules the skills teach.

Do I need to use the terminal?

Only for the first setup: one command, or two lines in ~/.codex/config.toml. After that, you just ask.

Building & support

What do I need from Landbot?

A free account. The 14-day trial covers everything Codex uses through the Landbot server.

Will Codex publish anything without asking?

No. Codex deploys to a test link first and publishes only when you say yes.

Can Codex edit bots I already built?

Yes. Codex tells you which bot it will change and asks before editing. Every change stays a visible flow you can keep editing in the builder.
